- Language appearing on November’s ballots for Florida’s Amendment 3 will need to be rewritten according to Leon County Circuit Court Judge David Frank’s ruling. The judge ruled the title of Amendment 3 “Save Our Homes From Excessive Property Taxes” uses “political rhetoric”, and that the ballot summary incorrectly states that passage of the amendment would exempt the first $250,000 of homestead property tax value. The amendment would start with a $150,000 exemption in year 1 – growing to $250,000 to year 2. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has ten days to rewrite the ordered changes for consideration by the judge. The decision may be appealed – though it’s unclear if the state will seek an appeal.
- Florida has 12 of the top hospitals nationally according to the annual US News and World Report rankings – though none are in the Palm Beaches or along the Treasure Coast. In South Florida the Cleveland Clinic Weston, Baptist Health Doctors in Coral Gables, Jackson Health Miami, University of Miami Hospital and Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach were top hospitals. UM’s Bascom Palm Eye Institute is the #1 eye hospital in the nation for the 25th consecutive year.
- Florida saw a surge in relocations during the first half of the year, according to new data from the Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles. The report, which details driver's license transfer data between states, shows over 200,000 relocations into Florida took place during the first six months of this year – the fastest pace since 2023. New York topped the list of transfers into the state and was nearly double the pace of the second state – Georgia. Miami Dade was the top destination for those relocating during the first half of the year – with Palm Beach County the second biggest gainer statewide.

Persistent Saharan dust from the coast of Africa extends over most of the southern and mid-Atlantic with dust extending over the Caribbean, Cuba, through the Gulf of America.
- The price of gas rose by another four cents per gallon on Tuesday. The statewide average price for regular unleaded fuel is currently $3.96 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $4.11 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.99, it’s $3.96 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $3.96 per gallon.
