A Miami federal judge has handed down a ten year sentence for former South Florida Congressman David Rivera.
In May he was convicted on all charges including acting as an illegal lobbyist for Venezuela and conspiring to commit money laundering.
Prosecutors argued for a more than 20-year sentence, while Rivera's team was fighting for no more than a year behind bars, as they appeal the conviction.
His co-defendant, political consultant Esther Nuhfer was sentenced in August to five-years in prison.
