Dr. Kevin O'Connor, Physician to the President, provided an update on President Joe Biden's health on Saturday (July 20). Biden was diagnosed with COVID-19 on Wednesday (July 17) while he was campaigning in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dr. O'Connor said that Biden has the KP .2.3 variant of the COVID-19 virus, which accounts for one-third of new infections in the United States.

Dr. O'Connor said that Biden completed his sixth dose of Paxlovid and that "his symptoms continue to improve steadily." However, "he is still experiencing a loose, nonproductive cough and hoarseness."

"His pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and temperature remain absolutely normal. His oxygen saturation continues to be excellent on room air. His lungs remain clear," Dr. O'Connor wrote in a letter to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

"The President continues to tolerate treatment well and will continue PAXLOVID as planned. He continues to perform all of his presidential duties," Dr. Oconnor added.
