It’s Time to Make America Safe Again. The Impact & Cost of Illegal Immigrants to You – Top 3 Takeaways – February 6th, 2025
- 700%. What’s that? It could be how much more time our current president spends working compared to his predecessor (it’d probably still be low). It is actually how many more hotdogs Costco sells in a year than are sold at all baseball stadiums combined. But it’s also something else that has had a profound impact on all of our lives. 700 is the percentage increase of crimes committed in the US by noncitizens by the end of the Biden presidency compared to the beginning of his presidency. That’s right, 700%! Ok, that’s a slight exaggeration...technically the increase was 699.3%. So, here’s the deal. From President Trump’s first year in office until his last, criminal convictions of noncitizens declined by 350%, with progress that was made each year, as the Trump administration cracked down on illegal immigration at the southern border and was regularly deporting those detained within our borders. When Trump left office there were only an average of 7 criminal convictions of non-citizens per day within the United States. The day that Trump returned to office that number stood at 47. And be mindful these aren’t all of the noncitizen criminals in society. These are just the ones who were captured and convicted for various criminal acts. As we’re aware catch and release wasn’t only a Biden administration policy at the southern border, but a policy commonly adopted by sanctuary states and cities. The actual crimes committed are estimated to be many multiples of the number of criminal convictions. And what kind of criminal acts? Here are examples of the increases in crime by category: burglaries +17%, sexual offenses +62%, DUI’s +78%, homicides/manslaughter +967%. Other than that, the criminal illegal immigrants were really just warm and fluffy migrants who are now at risk of being deported. So, about that... A year ago, I shared these numbers with you – that under the Biden administration non-citizens committed crimes at a rate that was 914% higher than citizens, that they were responsible for a quarter of all federal crimes committed and that they were responsible specifically for 24% of all drug trafficking, 25% of all property crimes and 28% of all fraud occurring across the country. Well guess what? Those numbers jumped.
- According to the US Sentencing Commission...33.7% of all federal cases involved non-citizens last year! Now think about this for a moment. In a country of 335 million people over a third of all federal cases involved non-citizens. What does that tell you? The most common offenses committed by noncitizens: drug trafficking, firearms, fraud, immigration/human trafficking, robbery, child pornography and sexual abuse. Other than that, I’m sure these ‘migrants’ really were warm and fluffy... Oh, and about the hard cost to you? The net effect of asylum seekers/illegal immigrants – according to last year’s study from FAIR, which includes contributions to society – including taxes paid by illegal immigrants – totaled $151 billion. A total that amounted to a cost of $1,156 per taxpayer. But that’s so last year. The updated congressional estimate checked in most recently at a cost of $182 billion...that means the updated cost to you is $1,352. You can think about that one as you file your taxes this year. So, the bottom line is that over the past year we paid $1,352 to facilitate more than a third of all federal crimes (and likely a similar percentage of state and local offenses as well). But that’s also independent of the illegal immigrant impact on inflation. As I broke down earlier this week, the inflation impact of illegal immigration (led by an increase in housing costs) has led to an average increase in the cost of living of $288 per month.
- That brings last year’s cost of illegal immigration to you to a total of $4,808. But there’s nothing you’d rather have been doing with that money than facilitating and accommodating illegal immigration anyway, right? Every day that Joe Biden was president of the United States the world was less safe. That was true on the world stage, but it was certainly true here at home too. Also, every day that Joe Biden was president of the United States his policy decisions drove up the cost of living. The good news is that every day Donald Trump is president of the United States the world is becoming a safer place, but also our communities are becoming safer places by the day as over 1,000 criminal illegal immigrants are being detained by ICE for deportation per day most recently while also insuring that illegal immigrants are no longer pouring into the country at and over our borders. Also, importantly, his policies will result in the ability to live more affordably going forward (despite the hyped tariff stories that will prove to be as wrong this time around as they were in Trump’s first go around). There’s a concerted effort in many news media circles to attempt to break down support for President Trump’s deportation plans. This commonly comes in the form of local impact stories a la families that are scared, kids that aren’t going to school, businesses that have less business, etc. Well, it’s not complicated. If you’re not breaking the law, you have nothing to worry about. If you are breaking the law, that is something you should be worried about. The irony is that those types of stories are signs of progress, not a problem. The best outcome would be illegal immigrants self-deporting. It may be the case that we’re starting to see that locally and across the country. And with Florida’s former AG Pam Bondi now in place as the country’s AG, I have every confidence that the Justice Department will begin to do everything it needs to do to ensure that the rule of law is upheld at all borders and at all levels government. In the words of Pam as she was sworn in, it’s time to make America safe again. Amen.
