- Governor DeSantis has signed four bills into law. The bills are: Peer Support for First Responders, which expands the definition of first responders to include correctional officers; Electronic Transmittal of Court Orders which requires courts records related to Risk Protection Orders the Baker Act and Marchman Act to be electronically communicated to law enforcement within 6 hours of being issued; Pet Insurance and Wellness Programs which requires greater transparency from pet insurance companies about what is an isn’t covered, along with the ability for policy holders to “return” insurance policies within a short timeframe and and Trust Funds which will reestablish the resilient Florida Trust Fund within the Department of Environmental Protection.
- The Florida Highway Patrol has added a 2023 Corvette C8 Stingray to its traffic patrol fleet of vehicles. The Corvette was seized during a drug enforcement action and has been retrofitted for FHP’s use.
- The Town of Palm Beach is warning residents and visitors about fraudulent websites that are targeting users of the ParkMobile payment system. The best practice to avoid the scam is to download the ParkMobile app to a smartphone and pay for parking directly through the app.
- Today will be cloudy, warm and breezy with highs in the low 80’s which is typical for this date. We can expect similar weather on Tuesday before sunnier weather arrives by mid-week.
- Gas prices fell through the weekend and are at their lows for the year entering this week. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $2.99 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.13 per gallon, in Martin the average is $2.98 and in Indian River County the average is $3.01 per gallon.
