  • Mangrove Property Insurance, Florida’s newest property insurance company, has assumed 30,000 policies from Citizen’s Property Insurance as the state-backed insurer of last resort continues to unwind policies from the multi-year insurance crisis with an acceptance rate of over 86%. Citizen’s total property insurance count is down to just over 850,000 policies, approximately half of the total of a couple of years ago during the peak of the crisis.  
  • No injuries were reported from Monday’s evacuated Delta Flight in Orlando. Sensational video shows an engine catching fire while on the ground with 282 customers, 10 flight attendants and two pilots aboard. The plane in question is an Airbus A330. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway. 
  • A new Chick-fil-A location is set to open on Thursday at South Military Trail and Hypoluxo Road in Lake Worth. 100 jobs have been created with the store’s opening. Chick-fil-A has donated $25,000 to Feeding South Florida to celebrate the store’s opening this week.  
  • Today will be cloudy and warm and breezy with highs in the low 80’s which is typical for this date. We can expect sunnier weather the rest of the week. 
  • Gas prices jumped by nine cents per gallon on Monday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.08 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.20 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.12 and in Indian River County the average is $3.09 per gallon.
