  • Florida’s legislators have yet to come to a budget agreement assuring the state session will extend into next week, however among the many bills to pass Florida’s state legislative session on Wednesday, was the Middle school and High School Start Times bill. Under the bill, school districts may opt out of a law set to take effect for the 2026-2027 school year that would have mandated significant shifts in school start times for middle and high school students. The Palm Beach County School District was among many across the state in opposition to the law. If Governor DeSantis signs the bill, it will take effect July 1st.  
  • Governor Ron DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis announced an expansion of the First Lady’s Hope Florida program. Hope Florida, which aims to help people become self-sufficient, has announced a pilot program with the Florida Department of Education that will train Hope Florida Liaisons at each school within participating school districts. The liaisons will be able to connect students and parents in need, to resources throughout their communities, in addition to assisting with school choice options.  
  • A 22-year-old Loxahatchee man has been arrested by PBSO for seven mass shooting threats revealed on TikTok. The man had been in communication with the teen responsible for the school shooting in Madison, Wisconsin last December. Authorities found numerous weapons. Sheriff Bradshaw noted: This guy was ready to go, had all the equipment, had the propensity to do it. It's just a matter of what day was going to set him off to go do it. 
  • Today we’ll have partly cloudy skies, and it will be breezy. Highs will be in the low 80’s which is typical for this date. Rain chances will increase as we head towards the weekend. 
  • Gas prices rose three cents per gallon on Wednesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.18 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.32 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.25 and in Indian River County the average is $3.21 per gallon.
