  • Governor DeSantis announced the opening of a first-of-its-kind Reverse Osmosis seawater desalination water treatment plant on Stock Island in the Lower Keys. The plant, which will convert saltwater into safe drinking water, will supply the lower Keys with a fresh water supply during emergencies. 
  • Two arrests have been made for a sophisticated Publix gift card scam perpetrated throughout the Treasure Coast. Jeffrey Castillo and Janel Castillo were found to have been swapping out real Publix gift cards for fake ones that looked real in stores. When customers activated the cards, the funds would be deposited in an account controlled by the suspects.  
  • Monday’s thunderstorms produced serve conditions in communities throughout the area. Wellington recorded wind gusts up to 52 mph, golf ball sized hail and uprooted trees. 
  • Today we’ll have clear skies and highs in the mid-80’s which is a bit warmer than for this date. We’ll have similar weather until Friday. 
  • Gas prices fell another 3 cents per gallon on Monday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.05 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.20 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.03 and in Indian River County the average is $3.09 per gallon.
