Today’s The Biggest Day Yet for the BBB - Top 3 Takeaways – May 13th, 2025 - Driven By Braman Motorcars

Takeaway #1: It’s A Big Day for the BBB

U.K trade deal, India-Pakistan cease-fire deal, Chinese trade deal, Hamas hostage release, Zelensky-Putin meeting, an executive order aimed at lower prescription drug costs – every day of late has been filled with huge news that’s likely to continue as President Trump has made his way to the middle-east where he’s interested in continuing to broker trade deals and establish peace. Billy Joel really needs to do a reboot of “we didn’t start the fire”. While the president is away, today happens to be the biggest day to date for the president’s agenda. This afternoon at 2 the House will take its biggest step yet in delivering President Trump’s BBB. Officially known as a “Full Committee Markup”, today is the day that the House’s Committee on Energy and Commerce puts pen to paper on the BBB’s energy, environmental, communications, and health policies. This is also where most of the cost savings are set to be achieved. The 16-page overview includes a repeal of unused funds from Biden-era administration policies, a la the (Not-so) Inflation Reduction Act and the Clean Air Act. There’s also the elimination of the Biden administration's EV mandate (which stated that 56% of all vehicles sold must be EVs by 2032). There’s additional deregulation for the energy industry – most notably around natural gas that’s fast become the cheapest and cleanest natural fuel that has been powering the world-wide AI boom. Speaking of AI, today’s markup will also include modernization of federal agencies in the AI age. Specifically, as is stated in the ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MODERNIZATION plan: The Secretary of Commerce shall use these funds to support the replacement and modernization of legacy business systems with state-of-the-art commercial artificial intelligence systems and automated decision systems, the adoption of artificial intelligence models that increase operational efficiency and service delivery, and improve the cybersecurity posture of Federal information technology systems through modernized architecture, automated threat detection, and integrated artificial intelligence solutions. Operational efficiency in the federal government. Who knew there could be such a thing? By the way, this plan is the result of DOGE’s findings. But then there’s what figures to be the biggest thing that accounts for the greatest savings of all...

Takeaway #2: Medicaid changes

You’re likely to soon hear lots and ranting and raving from the Left about how babies and people in need are set to be stripped of healthcare. None of it is true. There are several BBB Medicaid related changes that are set to take place including a requirement that states verify Social Security numbers for Medicaid recipients. Hmm, imagine that...states actually verifying that Medicaid recipients are legally eligible Medicaid. What a concept. That’s also the result of DOGE’s findings that 1.3 million illegal immigrants were illegally using Medicaid at a taxpayer cost of $6.5 billion per year. There’s also a requirement for states to remove dead people from Medicaid rolls. You’ll be thrilled to know we’ve spent over $1 billion per year on Medicaid funding to pay for “healthcare” of the dead. Nope, no fraud happening there. Remember these things when the Left starts to scream about who’s set to be removed from eligibility. Btw, another change bans Medicaid funding for gender transition procedures for minors. Yes, that’s something else we were forced to pay for under the Biden administration...the mutilation of minors through Medicaid. How evil can you possibility be? There are several other tweaks that are set to take place within Medicaid all aimed at “Preventing Wasteful Spending”...but then there’s the granddaddy of them all...

Takeaway #3: The Medicaid work requirement

Here’s what that requirement actually says: An individual can meet the community engagement requirements during a month by working at least 80 hours, completing at least 80 hours of community service, participating in a work program for at least 80 hours, enrolling in an educational program for at least 80 hours, or a combination of these activities for at least 80 hours. It includes exclusions for those under 19 or over 64 and a host of other exemptions based on certain circumstances. So that’s it. If you’re an able-bodied-person you need to do at least a little work (and I do mean a little we’re only talking about 20 hours per week). Or if you can’t find work then you need to do at least a little community service – so in other words, there’s no excuse to sit around as a lazy boob and suck off of the government teet at the expense of everyone who actually works for a living. There simply is no excuse for any able-bodied person of working age not to be working or serving their community for at least 20 hours per week. This is what the Left fighting the hardest. What does that say about the society they seek to create? Anyway, the savings of adding these Medicaid changes is said to be north of $900 billion in the BBB. That’s huge and it clears the way for most of Trump’s expanded tax policy such as no tax on tips and no tax on overtime too. It’s the biggest day yet for the BBB and that’s the deal on what’s really happening.
