- The U.S. Small Business Administration is offering Economic Injury Disaster Loans for small businesses negatively impacted by this spring’s droughts throughout Florida. Loans for up to $2 million may be obtained to cover most operational expenses including existing debt obligations. The loans come with a 4% interest rate for businesses and a 3.6% rate for non-profits with terms of up to 30 years available.
- The National Hurricane Center has begun operational outlooks for the Atlantic Hurricane season. This includes the NHC’s Tropical Weather Discussion which is issued at least four times daily. Hurricane season begins June 1st and this morning’s outlook does not show any likely tropical development over the next five days...related.
- The governor’s annual Hurricane Conference continues through tomorrow at the Palm Beach County Convention Center and is open to the public.
- Today marks the start of South Florida’s rainy season which runs from May 15th through October 15th. The five months of rainy season accounts for approximately 70% of South Florida’s annual rainfall.
- Today will be sunny and hot with highs in the upper 80’s, which is warmer than for this date. We’ll have sunny skies and still hotter conditions the rest of the week.
- Gas prices were flat on Wednesday after increases to start the week. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.12 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.28 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.20 and in Indian River County the average is $3.13 per gallon.
