- Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier will hold a ceremony at the Martin County Sheriff’s Office this morning honoring deputies who responded to last year’s assassination attempt of President Trump at Trump International in West Palm Beach.
- The Florida Department of Health in Martin County has issued a warning regarding blue-green algae detected in Lake Okeechobee. The advisory warns residents to avoid coming into contact with potentially contaminated water – including pets. The advisory comes on the back of a recent warning by officials in Palm Beach County. Lake Okeechobee is over two feet lower than is usual on this date largely due to the Army Corps of Engineers decision to discharge water east and west for several months starting in December in violation of the operating manual. No eastern discharges are currently taking place, though western and Southern discharges continue.
- NOAA will announce its hurricane season outlook today. During the announcement NOAA will discuss anticipated activity for the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, factors that may influence hurricane development and provide advice for how the public can prepare for the season, which officially begins June 1 and ends November 30.
- It'll be hot and muggy today with a high near 90, which is warmer than usual for this date with an increase in the chance of rain throughout the afternoon. Thunderstorms are likely on Friday. The National Hurricane Center’s Tropical Outlook is clear for the next 7 days.
- Gas prices rose another four cents per gallon on Wednesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.13 per gallon - 42 cents lower than a year ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.29 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.19 and in Indian River County the average is $3.18 per gallon.
