The Great Charlie Kirk – Top 3 Takeaways, September 11th, 2025
Takeaway #1: Fight, fight, fight
Last year, multiple political assassination attempts took place. Ironically jury selection in one of those cases concluded yesterday. Be it by the grace of God that President Trump is with us today. This year, during the year of the Great American Comeback, Charlie Kirk, on Wednesday was kicking of his American Comeback Tour – with his first stop at Utah Valley University. It proved to be his last stop on this earth. During a Q&A as part the trademark Prove Me Wrong debate a coward with a bullet who clearly couldn’t win an argument with Charlie, killed the 31-year-old husband and father. My immediate thoughts were of shock, but not surprise. The most effective leaders are the top targets. There’s no doubt that for a generation of young adults the most effective conservative leader has been the founder of Turning Point USA. An organization born out of Charlie’s disillusion with indoctrination on college campuses and what he correctly believed was a desperate need to combat it across the country. He organically created a grassroots political force with hundreds of thousands of student members across the country that he spoke to on over 600 college campuses. If that’s all he had done it would have been nothing short of incredible...but that was just the beginning. Charlie became a national radio host for Salem Radio, a top podcaster, a bestselling author and contributor to numerous national news organizations. Many people who knew Charlie much better than me can speak to the man. Many students, many Millennials and Gen Zers, younger than me, can speak to his impact on them better than me. What I can speak to and perhaps offer some insight on is the uniqueness of his incredible will, bravery, and talent. To excel at the highest level as a political organizer is an incredible talent. To engage in completely open debate with anyone one-on-one and effectively never for two decades. That had never previously been done. To host a national radio show requires exceptional talent. To become a top Podcaster speaks to that talent. To become a bestselling author is an altogether different kind of talent, great digital content creator and digital writers are few and far between as are truly impactful TV news contributors. And the point is this. All those achievements require slightly different skills, and for almost anyone else, just doing any of those things, is an incredible thing and the hallmark of a highly successful career. To have done them all and by just 31, demonstrates what a force of nature he is. And I say he “is” because a) If anyone in this business was right with God, Charlie Kirk was right with God, and b) Because while he alone was a unique figure, what he’s done has just begun. Yesterday wasn’t the end of Turning Point USA, or of Charlie Kirk’s story, it was the beginning of the...
Takeaway #2: The next chapter
President Trump survived his assassination attempts, he was able to say Fight, Fight, Fight with blood streaming down his face. Yesterday, Charlie Kirk was not able to do the same. Last year it was Charlie Kirk and his team that were on the front lines doing what needed to be done to successfully “Swamp the Vote”, so that President Trump was back into a position to be able to fight for our country. Charlie was key in making that a reality. Dating back to October 22nd,of 2021, you’ve heard me speak to the generational opportunity that I perceived had developed in this country. As I said back then: This is A generational opportunity for Republicans. Look, I’m the real-life walking talking Alex P. Keaton. Loving Reagan as a kid was a thing for me and millions in my generation. He’s the primary reason that those of us who were products of the 80’s, Gen Xer’s, tend to be more conservative than Boomers or Millennials. Anyway, that’s the generational opportunity in front of Republicans rights now. We’ve discussed how Biden’s performance is the worst by any president since Jimmy Carter. And in the context of it being darkest before dawn, I’ve pointed out that it took Jimmy Carter for us to get Ronald Reagan. So here we are. The generational opportunity for Republicans if they can emulate the principals of Ronald Reagan. Starting with freedom and liberty. The biggest teachable moment in the here and now isn’t about taxes or welfare or free puppies and Biden bucks and goodies that are anything but free.
Takeaway #3: It’s about freedom itself
Americans inherently want it. The big lie about the left and the Democrat Party generally, is that they’re “liberal”, which is often confused by kids/young adults to equal liberty, so they’ve often taught that’s the way to go. That’s all part of the marketing scam in which they’ll refer to themselves as Democratic as opposed Democrats. That’s a ruse to confuse immigrants and people coming of age who aren’t yet politically aware and want to support the democratic process. The Republican Party, with good leadership, is the party of freedom, of liberty and personal choice. The Democrats are the party of dictates, mandates, and censorship. This is now being realized by the youngest voters in this country. Now, the preeminent reason it was realized by the youngest voters in this country and that the potential for generational change was realized last November was the work of Charlie Kirk which culminated in this outcome that I shared with you last November following the greatest comeback in American history in President Trump’s victory: The biggest political shift over four years ago, was with voters under 30. In 2020, Donald Trump lost with voters under 30 by 25%. On Tuesday, his deficit was only 6%. Voters under 30 voted the most conservatively they have in any presidential election since Ronald Reagan was on the ballot in 1984. It’s been over 36 years since Ronald Reagan was president. It’s been over 21 years since he died. His legacy lives on daily in this country with a generation of adults permanently shaped by his philosophy and policy. Charlie Kirk has influenced the views of two generations of young adults and his legacy will live far longer. Charlie Kirk fought like few did for President Trump, so that Trump could fight, fight, fight for all of us and finish doing what needs to be done to Make America Great Again. In the words of President Trump yesterday: The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you! I have many thoughts on what went down here. For example, my instincts tell me that it’s not a coincidence that Kirk was murdered immediately following this question: Do you know how many transgender Americans have been mass shooters over the last 10 years? But I’ll save that for another time when we have the appropriate information in hand. As for the right, it’s time to fight, fight, fight, it’s the next chapter in Charlie’s life. After all it’s about freedom itself.
