The Cleveland Browns have traded cornerback Greg Newsome II and a 2026 sixth-round draft pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for cornerback Tyson Campbell and a seventh-round draft pick, the Jaguars confirmed in a post shared on their X account Thursday (October 9) morning.

"We have agreed to terms with the Cleveland Browns to trade CB Tyson Campbell and a seventh-round selection in the 2026 draft in exchange for CB Greg Newsome II and a sixth-round selection in the 2026 draft, pending physicals," the Jaguars wrote on their X account.

Newsome was selected by the Browns at No. 26 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft and made 47 starts in 59 total appearances during his five NFL seasons, which includes starting in all five games for Cleveland in 2025. The former Northwestern standout has recorded 23 tackles, two tackles for loss and three passes defended this season.

Campbell was selected by the Jaguars at No. 33 overall in the second-round of the 2021 NFL Draft. The former Georgia standout has started in 59 of 60 games, which includes all of Jacksonville's first five games of 2025, recording 34 tackles, one tackle for loss and one forced fumble.

The trade was reported days after the Jaguars' Monday Night Football upset win against the Kansas City Chiefs to improve their record to 4-1, already matching their win total from the entire 2024 season. The Browns, on the other hand, have dropped to 1-4, last in the AFC North Division standing, and traded veteran quarterback Joe Flacco to the rival Cincinnati Bengals earlier this week.
