On the same day that thousands are marching in the nation's capital to support Israel in its war against Hamas, the Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations or CAIR gathered at the state Capitol to call for a cease fire.
"An occupation can not be taking the lives of thousands of innocent children and saying this is defending itself!"
Florida CAIR's Executive Director Imam Abdullah Jaber accuses Israel of committing war crimes and said they're being funded by American tax dollars and by elected officials, including those in Florida.
Also at Tuesday's press conference in Tallahassee was Democrat State Representative Angie Nixon who last week introduced a resolution calling for a cease fire in Gaza. It was unsuccessful.
Nixon continues to insist that an end to the violence between Israel and Hamas would be the right move.
"I took an oath to represent all Floridians, regardless of the religion they practice."
Fellow Democrat State Rep. Anna Eskamani was also at the press conference. She has been praised by members of CAIR for voting in favor of Nixon's resolution.
Opponents of a cease fire in Gaza cite the attack by Hamas last month and the more than 200 innocent hostages who are still being held by the terror group.
