Lauderdale Lakes, FL - A Florida mother is speaking out after her son became ill after eating candy infused with THC at his school in Lauderdale Lakes.
The mother, identified as Kristy Bradley, says that her 12-year-old son ate what he thought was a Sour Patch Kid candy while he was at school earlier this week.
However, the candy was actually infused with THC, resulting in her son becoming ill.
"He said it looked like a Sour Patch Kid," Bradley told WSVN. "He felt like it was OK to eat it because he thought it was candy."
This incident comes the same week that another South Florida student was hospitalized after mistakenly eating THC-infused candy.
Bradley's son was taken to the emergency room, where he tested positive for marijuana.
Bradley is upset that her son was able to get hold of THC-infused candy at school, telling WSVN "I'm very upset about the whole situation because at the end of the day, like my son is 12 years old, with marijuana in his system. I don't know, we just got to do better with these kids."
School district officials say that the student who is accused of bringing the THC-infused candy to school is being disciplined.
