The world's second highest ranking golfer will return to a tournament he won 12 years ago.

Jupiter resident Rory McIlroy has committed to compete in the newly named Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches, which tees off in Palm Beach Gardens on February 28th.

He has played in what was known for over 40 years as the Honda Classic since that 2012 tournament that he won, but the last time McIlroy took part was in 2018.

In a statement, he said "PGA National is a great test of golf, and the fan support and incredible crowds make for an exciting atmosphere throughout the week."

This will be the first year that the tournament is played under its new name.
