Congresswoman Wants Florida's Surgeon General Fired Amid Measles Outbreak

A South Florida Democratic Congresswoman calling for the immediate termination of Florida's Surgeon General amid the measles outbreak in Broward.

Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz says Dr. Joseph Ladapo should be declaring a public health emergency and requiring all non-vaccinated children to quarantine for three weeks as per CDC guidance.

Ladapo, however, in a letter below does acknowledge that "it is normally recommended that individuals without history of prior infection or vaccination stay home for up to 21 days,"..but also writes that, "the DOH is deferring to parents or guardians to make decisions about school attendance." Ladapo was appointed by Republican Governor Ron DeSantis in 2021 after his vocal opposition to COVID-19 vaccine mandates.
