Indian River County's oldest cold case has been solved.
The Sheriff's Office says they know who killed a decorated World War II veteran and Purple Heart recipient back in April of 1968.
Hiram "Ross" Grayam was working as a milkman when he failed to return home from his daily deliveries on April 11th. His body and milk truck were later found and Grayam had been shot several times.
56 years later, the ex-wife of a man who is deceased says he confessed.
"These folks said I would have never said anything to you before. As long as he was alive, he was a threat to me and my family. We would've never told you. But the fact that he is now dead gave them the courage to come forward."

A friend of Thomas Williams also came forward with the same information.
"Two independent witnesses who both say that this guy confessed to killing the milkman to them, independent of each other...don't know each other."
Sheriff Eric Flowers says there is a second person who was involved and they think they know who it was. He's asking anyone in Gifford to reach out with information.
