Police in Jupiter are investigating a possible case of animal abuse.

A witness calling himself "Travis" reports seeing a man beating and attempting to drown a pit bull near the boat ramp at Burt Reynolds Park on Sunday. Travis says he yelled at the man and claims the man then threatened him.

He says police arrived but nothing was really done to ensure the animal's safety.

Travis shared details on the Nextdoor app.

There are reports that an arrest has now been made in the case and Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control confirms that they have the dog.
