Sheriff Race Results For Miami-Dade, Broward

The field is set in the race for sheriff in Miami-Dade County. Democrat James Reyes and Republican Rosie Cordero-Stutz won their primaries yesterday and will face off in November. Reyes beat three others with 46 percent of the vote. The Republican primary was much closer with eleven candidates. Cordero-Stutz won by just two percentage points. Turnout for both races was low at less than ten percent.

Broward County's sheriff is in line for another term. Gregory Tony won yesterday's Democratic primary over three others with over 50 percent of the vote. He'll face independent Charles Whatley in November. Tony says he's truly honored and extremely grateful for the people's continued trust and confidence.

Sheriff Dr. Gregory Tony is the 17th Sheriff of Broward County & the first African American duly elected to office.
