Miami Dade Commissioners expected to take a final vote on the possibility of an incinerator being built at Airport West in Miramar. But Commissioner Raquel Regalado says all other options are on the table after the mayor nixed a plan to build a new one. They include building an out-of-county landfill, using contracted capacity services or building a waste-to-energy facility. The county needs to replace the Doral incinerator that burned down in 2023. Trash is currently being hauled via truck and train by an outside contractor.
