After years of planning, a new Costco has opened in Stuart.

The first location on the Treasure Coast and the only one between Palm Beach and Brevard counties opened its doors this morning with a number of people waiting to get inside.

They included a woman calling herself "Costco Carol" because when she moved her daughter from Denver to California, they stopped at every Costco along the way.

"I got up, the dogs got up. They've eaten already, they've done their business so that we could come here. And we love the hot dogs and my daughter is a pizza person."

The Port St. Lucie woman is referring to the longstanding $1.50 hot dog/soda special that Costco is known for, along with its large slices of pizza.

Carol says she may choose to try the sushi during another visit. The Kanner Highway location is one of only two Costco's in the Southeast to have a sushi station.

A man who was at the front of the line, tells CBS 12 News that he drove all the way from Gainesville for a chance to check out Costco's liquor store.

Randy Ford says he has visited several other Costco stores on their opening days.
