Deputies Rescue Elderly Couple From Burning Mobile Home In North Fort Myers

North Fort Myers, FL - A late-night mobile home fire in North Fort Myers sent an elderly couple and their dog to the hospital after a dramatic rescue by Lee County deputies.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the scene Tuesday night where they found a mobile home fully engulfed in flames.

Body cam footage from the incident shows a young man pleading for help, telling deputies his grandmother was trapped inside.

One of the deputies responded, “Let’s go get her. Come on,” before rushing into the burning structure.

Deputies Gehle Jr. and Schack pulled the woman from the home and carried her to safety.

They then went back inside to rescue her husband and their dog.

All three victims survived.

The couple sustained non-life-threatening injuries, including smoke inhalation, and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Their dog also made it out of the home alive.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office commended the quick response by first responders, stating they were proud to work alongside local fire and EMS teams during the rescue.

Fire crews remained on the scene to extinguish the blaze and support the investigation.

At this time, the cause of the fire remains unknown.

Officials have not released details about what may have sparked the flames, but the incident remains under investigation.

The heroic actions of the deputies prevented what could have been a tragic outcome, earning praise from both the Sheriff’s Office and the local community.
