FLORIDA - As of October 1st, more than 2.3 million Florida drivers are registered with specialty license plates, which support causes, organizations, and schools across the state.
The most popular plate is the "Endless Summer" design, featuring a person holding a surfboard in front of a sunset, with 142,999 registrations.
Palm Beach County leads with over 9,000 of these plates, which cost $25 each.
The second most popular plate is the "Helping Sea Turtles Survive" design, with 112,996 registrations and the highest number in Palm Beach County.
The University of Florida plate ranks third with 93,347 registrations, most of which are in Alachua County.
The Miami Heat plate follows with 88,805 registrations, led by Miami-Dade County. Florida State University’s plate has 69,407 registrations, primarily in Leon County, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers plate has 62,739 registrations, mostly in Hillsborough County.
Other widely registered plates include the "Vets of the U.S. Armed Forces" plate, which has 50,825 registrations and varies in cost based on vehicle weight, with Brevard County leading.
The Walt Disney World plate has 53,481 registrations, most in Orange County.
Environmental-themed plates also rank highly, with the "Save the Manatee" plate at 52,854 registrations in Pinellas County and the "Protect Wild Dolphins" plate at 49,807 registrations in Lee County.
Florida offers a total of 175 specialty plates, providing drivers a way to show support for universities, sports teams, environmental causes, and other organizations while personalizing their vehicles.
