Davenport, FL - A dispute at a Davenport McDonald’s early Sunday morning escalated into a shooting, resulting in charges against three people.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, around 3 a.m., Peter Story, 20, and Nicholas Jones, 18, were in the drive-thru when employee Yoan Soto, 21, informed them the restaurant could not accept additional orders due to being extremely busy.
The two customers allegedly became frustrated and threatened Soto, stating they would wait for his shift to end to confront him.
The situation continued inside the restaurant when Story and Jones entered and allegedly persisted with threats toward Soto.
During the confrontation, one of the men reportedly mentioned having a “switch” and a “30-clip,” terms associated with firearms.
In response, Soto retrieved a handgun from the back of the store and pointed it at Story and Jones.
Surveillance footage shows Soto advancing on Jones and pushing him before turning toward Story.
A physical struggle followed, during which the firearm discharged, grazing Story.
Story was taken to a local hospital by Jones and treated for a non-life-threatening injury.
Soto initially left the scene but later returned and cooperated with authorities.
Soto was charged with tampering with physical evidence.
Jones and Story were charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing after failing to leave when warned.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd confirmed all three individuals are facing charges and emphasized the importance of de-escalating conflicts.
