Miami Mayor Eileen Higgins is in the nation's capital this morning on Day #1 of the U-S Conference of Mayors Winter Meeting. Higgins has been appointed to Vice Chair of the Community Development and Housing Committee where she will focus on affordable housing. She says affordable housing can take years to come to fruition because everything gets bogged down with permitting, so she will focus on streamlining the process to make it more efficient.
