Spirit Airlines May Soon Be Under Uncle Sam Radar

The Trump administration may rescue Spirit Airlines from financial turbulence. Travel Editor Peter says there are reports Uncle Sam mail bail Spirit out to the tune of a half billion dollars, with plans to own as much as 90-percent of the low-cost carrier based in Dania Beach. Spirit has filed for bankruptcy twice within the past two years. It was supposed to merge with JetBlue in 2024, but that was nixed after a judge ruled the merger would hurt competition.
