A third PBSO deputy has died following a tragic crash in Loxahatchee Thursday. While on motor patrol on Southern Blvd. near Seminole Pratt Whitney Road, Deputy Ralph “Butch” Waller, Corporal Luiz Paez and Deputy Ignacio “Dan” Diaz were struck by a motorist. They were transported to St. Mary's Medical Center, where Deputy Waller and Corporal Paez were pronounced deceased. Deputy Diaz remained in critical condition until his passing yesterday. A memorial for the fallen heroes has been scheduled for next Tuesday morning, December 3rd, at the iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre for 11.
The Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County has fined the Riviera Beach Utility Special District $1.1 million for its mishandling of water quality issues that led to fecal contamination in the city’s water supply with a subsequent attempted coverup by officials. The District has 30 days to pay the fine.
The Pelican Island Audubon Society in Indian River County is teaming up with county officials to help recover lost trees and vegetation suffered during the tornadoes spawned by Hurricane Milton. The Pelican Island Audubon society is offering three trees to residents free of charge to aid in the recovery: live oak, mahogany and bald cypress trees.
