  • Palm Beach County’s new commissioners Joel Flores and Bobby Powell were sworn in, and a new Mayor Maria Marino, was selected on Tuesday. Commissioner Sara Baxter serving as vice mayor for the new term.  
  • In Tuesday’s town meeting in Jupiter, FDOT pledged to expedite efforts to complete its construction projects on Indiantown Road near I-95. Officials said a third lane eastbound off Indiantown Road will be online by Friday, with a fourth lane to be completed by January of 2025. The pledge came during a meeting in which residents sounded off on the significant travel delays caused by the construction projects including the addition of a new traffic light.  
  • As part of the city’s ongoing sting operation to crack down on prostitution rings and human trafficking, West Palm Beach Police announced the arrest of 11 “Johns” responsible for the solicitation of women. The arrests bring the total of related arrests to over 100 this year.  
  • Cloudy skies with a chance of showers as a cold front makes its way to our area today. We’ll have highs in the low 80’s which is a little warmer than usual for this date before much cooler temps tomorrow. The National Hurricane Center‘s forecast is clear. There’s no expected activity for the next seven days as we head down the homestretch of hurricane season. 
  • Gas prices dropped three cents per gallon on Tuesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.07 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.24 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.10 and in Indian River County the average is $3.08 per gallon.
