It’s Time to Make America Great Again – Inauguration Day – Top 3 Takeaways

It’s Time to Make America Great Again – Inauguration Day – Top 3 Takeaways – January 20th, 2025

  1. Today is the day. Just before noon today the greatest comeback in American history will have officially taken place as Donald Trump is sworn in as the 47th president of the United States. More importantly, today is the day that sanity is immediately restored to the United States. There will be time to recount the considerable failures of the Biden administration, but for today I’d like to focus on the big picture. Since October 22nd, 2021 I’ve shared two consistent themes. The first was, as Thomas Fuller, an English theologian and historian from the 17th century, said it’s always darkest before the dawn. Specifically, I’ve pointed out that it took Jimmy Carter, one of the worst presidents in U.S. history, for us to get Ronald Reagan. In so doing, we went from one of our country’s worst presidents, who presented a host of failed policies including record high inflation and weakness on the world stage, to an era that produced the greatest prosperity in American history and an era of Peace Through Strength highlighted by the end of Iranian hostage crisis his first day in office...to the end of the Cold War near the end of his administration. The similarities between Carter and Biden have been staggering. The two one-term presidents have the worst inflation record on record with President Biden’s administration having had the highest inflation rate since Jimmy Carter was president. Carter’s presidency ended with a hostage release by Iran triggered by fears of what Reagan would do if they weren’t released. Yesterday, the 15-month long Hamas hostage crisis began to come to an end as three young women brutalized and held captive by Hamas were released as part of the cease fire deal fostered by the incoming Trump administration (following Trump’s message that there “would be hell to pay” if Hamas wasn’t releasing hostages by the time he took office). But today’s also the day that something else comes into focus that I first spoke of October 22nd of 2021. Today is that day that historic political change begins to take hold.
  2. Today is the start of a generational political change in this country. As I’ve mentioned, I’m the real-life walking, talking Alex P. Keaton. Loving Reagan as a kid was a thing for me and millions in my generation. He’s the primary reason that those of us who were products of the 80’s, Gen Xer’s have become the most conservative generation of voters in this country. So here we at a new inflexion point in our country’s history. Today begins a historic generational opportunity for President Trump and Republicans if they emulate the principals of Ronald Reagan. For decades conservatives have wondered how it is that you can compete with leftist politicians that promise freebies. The biggest teachable moment of the past four years has been that there really isn’t any such thing as free candy, free puppies, free college, free Obama phones or Biden bucks. It all comes with a cost and that cost can be, and has been, huge in the form of record debt and subsequent inflation. As I’d foreshadowed for over three years, Donald Trump won the largest share of voters under 30 (over 40%) of any Republican presidential candidate since...you guessed it. Ronald Reagan. Today isn’t just Inauguration Day. To this day there are untold millions of people who identify as either “Reagan Democrats” or “Reagan Republicans”. Today is the day that Trump takes that Reagan torch and applies it to the largest generation of Americans ever through successful policy and leadership. Speaking of which President Trump will waste no time getting down to business with...what are likely to be...
  3. A record number of Day 1 executive orders. There’s no doubt he’s intent on getting down to business today. On Sunday, in his Victory Rally, President Trump had this to say: You're going to see something tomorrow. I will act with historic speed and strength and fix every single crisis facing our country. You're going to see executive orders that are going to make you extremely happy. Lots of them. We have to set our country on a proper course. By the time the sun sets tomorrow evening, the invasion of our borders will have come to a halt and all the illegal border trespassers will, in some form or another, be on their way back home. Very soon we'll begin the largest deportation operation in American history. Larger, even larger than President, Dwight Eisenhower, who has the record right now. Every radical and foolish executive order of the Biden administration will be repealed within hours of when I take the oath of office. President Trump issued a total of 220 executive orders during his first administration. It’s likely he’ll sign nearly half that many this week with potentially dozens today. The president-elect has said he’s preparing about 100 executive orders to sign right away. Those orders are said to run the gambit from reenacting all previous Trump border policies, from the southern border in dealing with illegal immigration (including the phase 1 rollout of his deportation plan) to the Canadian border in terms of reinstating an America First energy policy. When Trump took office eight years ago, he didn’t know what he didn’t know, which was considerable given that his first political office was the office of the presidency. That led to numerous challenges that slowed his MAGA agenda down. There will be none of that this time. Trump knows exactly what he’s doing. Today’s the day that for four years we’ve been waiting for. Today’s the day that Donald Trump has been planning for, for four years as well. Today is the day that we will begin to Make America Great Again.
