  • Florida’s rate of flu spread is on the decline having dropped from ‘very high’ to ‘high’ according to the CDC’s weekly data. Over the past week the rate of spread of flu and flu-like activity has declined in 59 of Florida’s 67 counties including along the entire east coast of Florida. RSV cases continue to decline across most of the state as well, however, Martin was among six counties to experience an increase in RSV cases last week.  
  • Governor DeSantis swore in his former Chief of Staff, James Uthmeier, as Florida’s Attorney General replacing Ashley Moody who was appointed by DeSantis to replace Secretary of State Marco Rubio in the senate. Uthmeier will finish Moody’s term which ends in January of 2027. Related... 
  • The Florida Attorney General’s Office announced that a joint operation with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement has led to hundreds of fake SunPass websites and related phishing scams being shut down.  
  • Dredging at the Lake Worth Inlet is underway and is expected to continue for up to six weeks. According to the Army Corps of Engineers the project includes dredging sand at the entrance of the channel that will then be pumped to Phipps Ocean Park and nearby locations. 
  • Partly cloudy skies and warm today with highs in the upper 70’s – typical for this date. Warmer weather is expected on Wednesday prior to a cold front moving into the area on Thursday. 
  • Gas prices were steady through the President’s Day weekend and are lower than a week ago. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.11 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.25 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.11 and in Indian River County the average is $3.10 per gallon.
