A day 1 executive order by President Trump established the Department of Government Efficiency, marking the first time that a newly established quasi-government agency has had the effect of shrinking the federal government and the size of the bureaucracy. Led by Elon Musk, DOGE has had an immediate impact. Keeping track of what DOGE has done, and is doing, is a constantly moving target. Literally every day DOGE has exposed waste, fraud, and abuse that’s been flagged to President Trump for the purpose of eliminating programs and to reduce spending. But what does it mean to you?

- Total savings: $55 billion
- Savings per federal taxpayer: $359.48
- Progress towards minimum goal of $500 billion in savings: 11%
- Progress towards best case savings scenario ($2 trillion): 2.75%
On Tuesday DOGE won a key court ruling when D.C. Judge Tanya Chutkan, an Obama appointee, refused to implement a restraining order against DOGE’s actions that was sought by 14-Democrat led states. The legal battles are likely to continue, but so too are DOGE’s efforts to reduce the size of government and save you money.
