- Florida’s rate of flu spread remained ‘moderate’ over the past week according to the CDC’s weekly data. The rate of spread of flu and flu-like activity has declined in 66 of Florida’s 67 counties – including Florida’s entire east coast. RSV cases have remained a bit more stubborn. RSV cases are most recently decreasing in Martin County but have remained consistent in Palm Beach County and Indian River County most recently.
- After beating Tennessee for the SEC Championship, Florida is the #1 seed in the West and will play Norfolk State in their opening round matchup of the NCAA tournament on Friday. The University of Florida was the only school from the state to make the men’s tournament this year. In the women’s tournament, Florida State entered as a 6 seed and the University of South Florida as a 12 seed.
- The Palm Beach International Boat Show has added a fifth day this year as a record number of superyachts are making their way towards West Palm Beach for the annual event. The show will run from March 19th through March 23rd and feature 200 superyachts this year.
- We’ve already had our high temperature for the day. Passing storms this morning will bring in cooler air behind them with temps in the 60’s later this morning and 50’s by tonight which is considerably cooler than usual for this date. We’ll have another cool day on Tuesday.
- Gas prices rose slightly over the weekend and are two cents per gallon higher than a week ago. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.10 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.26 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.13 and in Indian River County the average is $3.11 per gallon.
