- Flu season appears to be ending in Florida as the rate of flu spread is now ‘low’ for the first time in nearly four months according to the CDC’s weekly data. The rate of spread of flu and flu-like activity has declined in 63 of Florida’s 67 counties – including Florida’s entire east coast. RSV cases have remained a bit more stubborn. RSV cases increased in Martin County and 12 other counties last week but have remained consistent in Palm Beach County and Indian River County most recently.
- Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced a $4+ million settlement has been reached with Gold Standard Moving Storage and related storage companies operating under the names: Gold Standard, Executive Van Lines, Imperial Moving Group, Simple Path Moving, National American Van Lines, Razor Van Lines, Spartan Moving and Storage, United American Moving and Us Pro Moving and Logistics. Over a million dollars of the settlement will be paid to victims of a bidding scheme. The companies, which have also been issued a lifetime ban from operation in Florida, were found to have provided low initial bids for storage services only to later demand additional payments.
- West Palm Beach attorney Malik Leigh of the family and civil law firm- Watson Leigh has been disbarred by the Florida Supreme Court. Leigh repeatedly posted threatening messages on social media accounts against individuals he was suing. He was first cited for inappropriate online conduct in 2016.
- Cloudy skies and warm today with highs in the low 80’s which is a bit warmer than usual for this date. We’ll have a chance of passing showers and storms Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Gas prices fell through the weekend reaching new lows for the year. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $2.96 per gallon - 14 cents lower than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.10 per gallon, in Martin the average is $2.95 and in Indian River County the average is $2.97 per gallon.
