- On Wednesday Governor DeSantis announced an additional 660 law enforcement recruitment bonuses have been issued under the state’s Florida Law Enforcement Recruitment Bonus Payment Program bringing the total to over 7,800 bonuses issued since the inception of the program in 2022. The program issues after tax bonuses of $5,000 to law enforcement professionals who relocate to Florida. DeSantis noted that officers have relocated from 49 states and two U.S. territories under the program.
- A new study estimating flood risk in Florida over the next 25 years projects that a total of 23,000 additional people and 17,000 additional homes will experience annual coastal flooding around king tide schedules. The Climate Central study found Miami-Dade to be the most impacted area of the state over the next 2+ decades with an additional 350 coastal homes in Palm Beach County, 30 homes in Martin County and 10 homes in Indian River County at risk of what’s known as “sunny day” flooding due to rising ocean levels.
- Florida’s the 14th happiest state with Pembroke Pines (39th) being the happiest city within the state according to WalletHub’s annual Happiest Cities in America report. Other top 50 cities included Fort Lauderdale at #46 and Cape Coral (50th).
- Warm and windy with gusts in the mid-20's today with highs in the mid 80’s which is warmer than usual for this date. We’ll have similar weather with calmer winds on Friday.
- Gas prices rose by five cents per gallon on Wednesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.22 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.37 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.29 and in Indian River County the average is $3.26 per gallon.
