Bottom Line: Your daily recap of the biggest news from around the state that impacts you throughout the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast.

  • As Florida’s state legislative session moves into its four final weeks many bills are reaching floor votes in the House and Senate. Two bills that passed the House are the Surrendered Infants bill and a bill raising the threshold for citizen-led proposed amendments to qualify for inclusion on voters' ballots. Under the surrendered infants bill, newborn babies would be able to be turned over to authorities without questions or penalties. The amendments bill would require citizen-led measures to first post a $1 million bond and comply with tightened timelines and standards for signature collection. Both bills await votes in the senate.
  • Flu season is effectively over in Florida with the CDC’s weekly data showing cases of the flu are now ‘minimal’ for the first time since November 2nd.
  • Many residents in Wellington are under a boil water notice through at least tomorrow. A water main break has prompted a boil water notice from residents living between 332 and 389 Park Forest Way near Forest Hill Blvd. The notice will be lifted when testing shows safe water samples for two consecutive days.
  • Sunny, warm and windy with highs in the upper 80’s which is warmer than usual for this date. A cold front will move into the area on Tuesday bringing rain and cooler temperatures along with it.
