- “Florida is the world’s favorite place to visit” according to Governor DeSantis. The governor made the statement as Florida announced record tourism for the state over the past year. Highlights included a record 15.5 share of all domestic tourism occurring in Florida with strong growth in international tourism leading to a record high 142.9 million visitors in 2024.
- Floridians have another new property insurance option. On Monday, Florida’s Office of Insurance Regulation announced Florida-based Apex Star Reciprocal Exchange had been approved to begin underwriting polices throughout the state. Legislative reforms of previous years are credited with stabilizing Florida’s insurance market which has now added 12 property insurance companies over the past two years.
- The Florida Supreme Court has disciplined ten attorneys across the state including three in Palm Beach County. Boca Raton’s Shayne Epstein was issued a public reprimand for a conflict of interest for his involvement with a recruiting company focused on foreign nationals. Lake Park’s Chance McClain was disbarred for unlawfully transferring his mother’s Mercedes Benz into his name while representing her in a case. Wellington’s Jeffrey Marc Siskind was disbarred for misappropriation of client's funds.
- It’ll be cloudy, windy and rainy today with highs in the 70’s along the Treasure Coast to low 80’s in the Palm Beaches as a cold front will move into the area today bringing rain and cooler temperatures along with it. Similar but slightly cooler weather is expected on Wednesday.
- Gas prices rose a penny per gallon on Monday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.19 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.33 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.22 and in Indian River County the average is $3.23 per gallon.
