  • Today is Tax Day for most of the country but not for Floridians. The IRS has pushed back filing deadlines for residents of five states that were subjected to federal disaster declarations. The deadline to file for Floridians is Thursday, May 1st.   
  • Governor DeSantis signed two Gulf of America bills into law on Monday. The laws recognize the name change from the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America statewide and direct state agencies to enact the name change with all state materials.  
  • Congressman Brian Mast is holding three town halls throughout his district today. The first meeting will take place at 9 a.m. at Calvary Church on West Indiantown Road in Jupiter. The second meeting will take place in Palm City at 12:30 p.m. at Palm City New Hope, with the third meeting taking place at the Truth Church in Port St. Lucie at 4:30 p.m. 
  • Riviera Beach has a new mayor following a process that saw five candidates removed from ballots due to improperly paying to register their mayoral campaigns. In a special meeting Monday, the Riviera Beach City Council selected former councilman Douglas Lawson to lead the city. Lawson was one of the candidates who’d been removed from the ballot. 
  • Sunny and warm with highs in the low to mid 80’s which is a bit warmer than usual for this date. We can expect similar weather throughout the week. 
  • Gas prices another two cents per gallon on Monday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.07 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.20 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.02 and in Indian River County the average is $3.07 per gallon.
