  • Governor DeSantis received eight bills from the Florida legislature on Tuesday. The bills include: Service of Process – which expands hours registered agents keep office hours; Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Only Damage to Vehicle or Property – which allows courts to order drivers convicted of leaving the scene of such crashes to make restitution for the damage caused by their vehicle; Diabetes Management in Schools; authorizes school district or public school to acquire & maintain supply of undesignated glucagon; Electronic Delivery of Notices Between Landlords and Tenants; authorizes landlords to electronically deliver notices to tenants; Surrendered Infants- allows parents to anonymously surrender infants up to 30 days after birth; Florida Trust Code - which grants the Attorney General exclusive authority to represent certain interests related to charitable trusts in Florida; Fentanyl Testing - requires hospitals or hospital-based off-campus emergency departments to test for fentanyl in urine tests; A Review under the Open Government Sunset Review Act – which modifies public records information held by the Office of Financial Regulation in Finacial Technology. The governor has until next Tuesday, the 29th to sign or veto the bills. 
  • Florida’s Attorney General James Uthmeier is suing Snapchat parent company Snap Inc. for potential violation of Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Practices Act. According to Uthmeier Snapchat continues to allow underage users of the app, and the app fails to disclose risks of the apps use to parents of minors as is mandated under law.  
  • The Palm Beach County School District has adopted an emergency rule to eliminate DEI policies within the school district to remain compliant with federal funding regulations and will formally enact the policy change during today’s scheduled board meeting. The school district said it stood to lose $300 million in federal funding without the changes.  
  • Today we’ll have partly cloudy skies and warm temps with highs in the mid 80’s which is a little warmer than usual for this date. We can expect similar weather the rest of the week. 
  • Gas prices rose another five cents per gallon on Tuesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.13 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.28 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.19 and in Indian River County the average is $3.14 per gallon.
