A Much Safer Place After Nearly 100 Days & SCOTUS Considers School Choice

This is a Much Safer Place After Nearly 100 Days & SCOTUS Considers School Choice - Top Three Takeaways – April 28th, 2025 Driven By Braman Motorcars

Takeaway #1: Every day that Donald Trump is president the United States is a safer place

Tuesday will mark 100 days of President Trump’s second administration and along with it a lot of attention will be paid to what the president has been doing at a historic pace. But today I wanted to start off by drilling down to the extent to which our country has been made safer during the presidents’ first 99 days in office. I have a feeling that even many of the president’s biggest supporters may be surprised by the extent to which the administration has had success limiting illegal entry into our country. On that note, it’s trivia time. How many fewer aliens are attempting entry into the United States? What’s the percentage decline? Have an answer in mind... The answer is now 95%. From the time Trump was sworn into office in January until the end of the month the initial decline in attempted border crossing activity was down 93%. In February that number grew to a 94% decline. Ditto that’s the number we saw in March. And what have the trends shown in April thus far? A 95% decline. This means that the massive declines in attempted illegal entry, attempting asylum seeking, you name it wasn’t just an immediate thing but one that’s actually continue to grow as time goes along. Word has obviously gotten out across the world, as Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has been especially forward with her media campaign to do, that the United States under Donald Trump means business. So that’s huge but here’s the bigger picture as it applies to you and your family. How many border crossers have actually made it into the United States since President Trump took office? Have a number in mind? This is the one that might blow your mind (in a positive way – unless you’re a leftist judge protecting illegal immigrants over American citizens that is). The answer is nine. That’s right only nueve – essay. The net decline in illegal immigration into this country since Donald Trump once again became President of the United States is over 99.9%! That’s a win. To put what’s been accomplished here in perspective – consider this. During the same window of time last year, we averaged nearly two illegal immigrants entering the United States per minute. In other words that means more illegal immigrants entered the US every five minutes under Biden as had gained entry into the United States than have under nearly 100 days under this administration. From the reinstallation of President Trump’s immigration policies from his first term – to the Laken Riley Act – nowhere has the administration had more success more quickly on illegal immigration...and about that...

Takeaway #2: Everyday Ron DeSantis is governor of Florida with Trump as president our state is a safer place

Speaking of illegal immigration...a Tidal Wave hit Florida last week. No, this one wasn’t influenced by the Moon. It was influenced by a president bent on detaining and deporting illegal immigrants and a state that cooperates. Recently we’d come across reports of successful sting operations by state and local law enforcement and ICE. This included 70 illegal immigrants being detained in one sting in Indiantown. It turns out that the operation was part of so much more. Dubbed Operation Tidal Wave, nearly 800 illegal immigrants have been detained by ICE across our state recently with the assistance of FHP and local law enforcement agencies. Precisely the policies Governor DeSantis said that we needed when the Trump administration was back in place, and exactly the kind of policies that were made mandatory under a new state law passed in February during a special session. While aspects of that law are now being litigated, what’s clear based on the size and scope of the Tidal Wave, is how key it is to have cooperation at all law enforcement agencies. Among the arrests made during Operation Tidal Wave... Illegal immigrants who’d been convicted of murder and manslaughter in their native countries, along with numerous MS-13 and related gang members. People that as recently as two weeks ago were roaming our streets.

Takeaway #3: A big week for school choice

The United States Supreme Court is set to hear six more cases this week with one that could prove critical to Florida’s Universal School Choice program along with all other choice programs across the country. On Wednesday, the Supreme Court will hear the OK Charter School Board v. Drummond case. In this case, Oklahoma’s Charter School Board executed a contract with a Catholic Virtual School to operate a religious charter school in the state. The state attorney general sued, arguing that the contract violated state prohibitions on religion in public schools. The decision in that case could have implications for whether religious schools are allowed to access public money for school choice programs. Currently in Florida, with our largest Universal School Choice program in the country – we do allow religious school access. I’m confident that at the conclusion of this case, that will still be the case, but this SCOTUS ruling could prove to be one of the most important in school choice history.
