  • Governor DeSantis, in conjunction with ICE, announced the results of what proved to be the largest illegal immigration operation in Florida’s history. Dubbed Operation Tidal Wave, original reports suggested 780 total illegal immigrants had been arrested across the state. Final totals ware announced to be 1,120 during the six-day operation with the largest concentration of illegal immigrants, 437, from Guatemala. Arrests were made involving five different foreign terrorist organizations operating within the state. The governor highlighted the state’s partnership with ICE under recently mandated 287(g) programs as being a key factor for the operation’s success. 
  • Florida legislators failed to come to a budget agreement and are set to leave this year’s session without a budget which will soon prompt a special session.  
  • The husband of the principal of Whispering Pines Elementary School in Boca Raton, also a Palm Beach County School District employee, has been arrested on five counts for the alleged molestation of two children under the age of 12. The alleged crimes by Norman Riemer occurred at their home last year.  
  • City officials in Boca Raton have approved the development of a new mixed-use apartment complex at the Park of Commerce Blvd. location between Yamato Road and Clint Moore Road will include 226 apartments, 17 townhomes, an eight-story parking garage, a restaurant, recreation areas and office space. 
  • Today we’ll have partly cloudy skies, a chance of passing showers with highs in the low 80’s which is typical for this date. Rain chances will increase along with temps throughout the weekend with rain likely on Sunday. 
  • Gas prices dropped two cents per gallon on Thursday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.16 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.32 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.22 and in Indian River County the average is $3.18 per gallon.
