  • Governor DeSantis signed the Vessels bill, aka Boater Freedom Act, into law on Monday. The new law which takes effect July 1st, preempts local bans on gas powered boats, prevents random vessel safety inspections and establishes a five-year safety inspection decal for boaters who’ve completed safety courses.  
  • The Florida Department of Education awarded $12 million on Monday to seven school districts and Florida State University for Workforce CAP Grants. Since the inception of the workforce development program two years ago, a total of $200 million has been allocated to programs that assist students with direct job placement in the trades, agriculture, healthcare and technology upon the completion of education programs.  
  • The fallen PBSO deputies were honored by President Trump on Monday with the first-ever Medals of Sacrifice. Corporal Luis Paez, Deputy Sheriff Ignacio “Dan” Diaz, and Deputy Sheriff Ralph “Butch” Waller died in an accident on Southern Blvd. in November.  
  • It'll be sunny and hot again today with a high in the low 90’s, which is warmer than usual for this date. We’re expecting similar weather through Thursday. The National Hurricane Center’s Tropical Outlook is clear for the next 7 days. 
  • Gas prices dropped three cents per gallon on Monday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.01 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.20 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.03 and in Indian River County the average is $3.03 per gallon.
