- Florida was the top travel destination for Memorial Day weekend in the country, setting records in the process. Approximately 1 million people traveled via air with nearly two and a half million and half traveling by car. Total tourism for the weekend appears to have risen by 3%-4% over last year’s record levels.
- Vero Beaches’ Veterans hall reopened in time for a Memorial Day gathering on Monday. The building suffered significant damage during a tornado spawned by Hurricane Milton last year. Approximately $60,000 in donations were made by the community to complete the necessary repairs and renovations. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for June 7th for the official reopening of the facility.
- Stuart has a new police chief who started his law enforcement career in Stuart most recently serving as the support service captain. Flamur Zenelovic took over the reins on Saturday following the retirement of Chief Joseph Tumminelli.
