  • While at Big Dog Ranch Rescue in Loxahatchee on Wednesday Governor DeSantis signed “Trooper’s Law” and “Dexter’s Bill” into law. The new laws make it a felony to restrain and abandon a dog during a declared disaster or evacuation, enhance penalties for aggravated animal cruelty, and create Florida’s first animal abuser database to prevent abuse and protect communities. 
  • For the second straight year Delray Beach has been named the Best Beach in Florida by USA Today’s Reader’s Choice Awards. Stuart Beach was fifth best this year after ranking sixth last year. 
  • For the third straight year the Florida Panthers are Eastern Conference Champions after taking game five by a 5-3 score in Carolina. The defending champion Panthers will await the winner of the Western Conference finals. Edmonton leads Dallas 3 games to 1 with game five tonight in Dallas.  
  • It'll be warm and muggy today with partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 80’s, which is warmer than usual for this date. We’re expecting similar weather tomorrow. The National Hurricane Center’s Tropical Outlook is clear for the next 7 days. 
  • Gas prices rose by eight cents per gallon on Wednesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.09 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.25 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.15 and in Indian River County the average is $3.10 per gallon.
