  • Governor DeSantis announced a new $1 billion gas turbine manufacturing facility will be coming to Florida. The Williams International project will take place in Okaloosa County in Northwest Florida and is the largest manufacturing project in the region’s history. The project will take place in three phases with the first to be completed late next year creating 330 jobs in the process. Related... 
  • The National Taxpayers Union has identified Florida as the biggest beneficiary of continued business relocations and expansion in the country – with Florida attracting nearly 4 times the business investment of the number 2 gainer – Texas most recently.  
  • Governor DeSantis vetoed the Recovery of Damages for Medical Negligence Resulting in Death bill on Thursday. The bill aimed to repeal Florida’s law which prevents adult children and their parents from pursing non-economic damages for medical negligence. DeSantis said: In my judgment, it would lead to higher costs for Floridians, it would lead to less access to care for Floridians.  
  • It'll be partly cloudy and hot today with highs in the low 90’s, which is warmer than usual for this date. Showers are likely over the weekend as is Saharan dust which begins to make its way over South Florida. The National Hurricane Center’s Tropical Outlook is clear for the next 7 days meaning we’ll start hurricane season without having had a preseason storm or any on the horizon. 
  • Gas prices rose by three cents per gallon on Thursday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.12 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.28 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.17 and in Indian River County the average is $3.15 per gallon.
