Trump vs. Musk Ended Quickly & Trump’s Winning - Top 3 Takeaways – June 9th, 2025 - Driven By Braman Motorcars
Takeaway #1: Trump won, bigly
Low Energy Jeb!, Little Marco, Crooked Hillary, The Deep State, The Impeachments, The January 6th Committee, the Lawfare campaign, Ron DeSanctimonious, Slow Joe, Crazy Kamala and now add...”The other Rocket Man”?... to the list (Trump doesn’t actually have a nickname for Elon Musk so I took creative liberties). At first glance you might look at the battle royale that escalated quickly last week between President Trump and Elon Musk and think that there couldn’t possibly be any winners – aside from potentially Democrats who perhaps could just stand by and watch the president’s agenda implode from within. But if any of us have learned anything about Donald Trump in his personal or political life it’s that he may lose occasional battles – but he always wins the war. ALWAYS. Some wins come quicker than others and it was on Friday I first implied that the remarkable dispute that went from zero, to Jeffrey Epstein territory within a few hours, may have done Trump a hugely important favor. As I mentioned on Friday... Elon probably did Trump a favor by going full nuclear on him. Had he simply opposed the DAB, there’s a strong chance he may have been able to kill it – given the significant influence he’d grown in GOP circles. Now that he’s gone to THAT place – he gives GOPers the political freedom to act independently of his opinions. The bond between President Trump and his supporters is far, far greater than the affinity that’d grown for Elon within the GOP. So yeah – even with Trump in the middle of the battle royale with Musk he’d already achieved a strategic advantage he needed by Musk overplaying his hand by effectively stating that Trump had stuff in common with Michael Jackson and what he did at the Never Land Ranch. But over the weekend the wins kept coming for Trump in the feud. Musk got back to posting about SpaceX and Tesla exclusively (save a couple of reposts about Argentinian President Javier Melei – whom I do have a man crush on because he is just that good and one from Senator Mike Lee). There was nothing targeting Trump except a de-escalation. On that note...it was also on Friday I mentioned that I don’t know how you could possible walk back the statement that the President was in the Epstein report and that was the reason full disclosure hasn’t yet been achieved. The point behind the question remains but in the most literal sense – there wasn’t a walking back of the commentary and lighter-fluid laden accusation – there was a total deleting of this situation... As in Musk deleting the related inflammatory posts on Thursday (while whistling I suppose?)... So yeah...
Takeaway #2: Nothing to see here folks...
Here’s the other bigly important thing. There had been a fear by many on the right that Musk might suddenly decide out of retribution in the feud to back Democrats instead... As I suggested on Friday, that was unlikely to be the case because in reality, he’d become more fiscally conservative than the president and most Republicans. The reposting of one of the most conservative senators in Mike Lee, and of praise for President Melei whom is the most impressive and successful fiscal conservative in the world is a clear-cut sign that he’s not turning left. So, this is why Trump has won almost immediately and extremely decisively. Musk’s nuclear maneuver put an end to his grip on many within the GOP – providing cover and a much clearer path for the OBBB, Musk has now attempted to make the nuclear launch disappear in a de-escalation of hostilities and Musk is back to focusing on his core competences – which are also part of President Trump’s big picture objectives (particularly SpaceX activities). When Trump came down the escalator polling at 1% did you give him much of a chance? When the Access Hollywood Tape dropped just before the 2016 election, did you think the nail was in the coffin? When Trump lost the 2020 election and then January 6th happened did you think he’d subsequently win the biggest election victory by a member of the GOP since the 1980’s? Did you think when the stock market sold off by 20% after April’s Liberation Day tariffs we’d be talking about the potential for the S&P 500 to hit a new all-time high this week? Did you think last Thursday afternoon that what Musk did would immediately work to Trump’s advantage? Trump’s ability to thrive in the face of adversity is unlike anything we’ve ever seen...every. single. time. Btw...
Takeaway #3: Shrinkage
Speaking of Trump’s wins and the financial markets... President Trump has only completed a couple new trade deals but already the tariffs have effectively done over half of what his primary purpose behind what all of the tariff stuff is designed to do – eliminate the US trade deficit. And get this – Trump's already more than halfway accomplished this. The Commerce Department reported that April’s trade deficit dropped by 55.5%! When was the last time April’s trade deficit was as low as it was this year? 2020 – when very little was shipping at the onset of the pandemic. Trump’s winning the trade war too. He doesn’t appear to be tired of winning so get ready for another week of related news...
