  • Governor DeSantis signed 10 bills into law on Wednesday, with a focus on healthcare reforms. Included in the new laws is the establishment of the Florida Institute for Pediatric Rare Diseases within Florida State University’s College of Medicine and the establishment of the Florida Institute for Parkinson’s Disease at the University of South Florida. The Tristin Murphy Act, focusing on mental health issues within the criminal justice system, establishes new diversion programs for those diagnosed with mental illnesses. A new stem cell therapy law will allow physicians to perform medical procedures using stem cell therapies that have not been FDA approved. The Second Chance Act requires high school athletes to undergo electrocardiograms before participating in organized sports.  
  • The Wayne Gretzky-backed ice rink set to be built in Palm Beach Gardens has reached its financial needs to move forward. According to the Palm Beach North Athletic Foundation, the $40 million facility, set to replace skate park on Plant Drive, will begin construction next week with an ETA of December, 2026. 
  • For the second consecutive year Juno Beaches’ Loggerhead Marinelife Center has been named USA Today’s Best Free Attraction in the U.S. topping Niagara Falls and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  
  • We’ll have a chance of rain and thunderstorms throughout the day today with highs in the upper 80’s, which is typical for this date. Similar weather is expected for the rest of the week. Saharan dust is continuing across the Atlantic with a sizeable plumb currently moving over the Caribbean and heading towards Florida. It will make its way over South Florida tomorrow. 
  • The National Hurricane Center’s tropical outlook shows no activity for the next seven days. 
  • Gas prices dropped another three cents per gallon on Wednesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.03 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.20 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.07 and in Indian River County the average is $3.05 per gallon.
