- Governor DeSantis has dispatched Florida Emergency Management teams to assist with the deadly flood waters in Texas. As of this morning, the death toll stands at 82 with dozens still unaccounted for.
- DeSantis also announced that following the state’s successful opening of the country’s largest ICE detention and deportation facility, known as Alligator Alcatraz, and a second facility that’s currently under construction near Jacksonville, that a third facility is being discussed in the panhandle. Quoting DeSantis on Sunday: We've been talking about it, but we haven't confirmed anything. If we were to do another, it would probably be somewhere in the panhandle because that would cover everybody.
- It'll be mostly cloudy and humid again today with highs in upper 80’s, which is typical for this date. Rain chances increase by midweek. A significant Saharan dust plume is moving under South Florida into the Gulf with another less dense plume currently working across the central Atlantic.
- The National Hurricane Center’s 7-day tropical outlook is clear following the dissipation of Tropical Storm Chantel over North Carolina last night.
- Gas prices dropped a bit over the weekend, though they remain higher than a week ago. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.07 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.24 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.07 and in Indian River County the average is $3.06 per gallon.
