- Florida is the 3rd best state for business (up from 5th last year) according to CNBC’s annual “America’s Top States for Business” study. The study compares states across 135 metrics in 10 categories, rating states on a cumulative points system. Florida has the best state economy in the country and second-best workforce, while ranking above average in almost all categories. Florida ranked behind North Carolina and Texas, primarily due to the cost of living.
- Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has begun an investigation into Robinhood Crypto, related to allegations of deceptive marketing practices. According to a statement released by Uthmeier: Robinhood Crypto allegedly is breaking Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Practices Act by falsely promoting its crypto platform as the least expensive way to purchase crypto—when there is evidence to suggest that is not true. The inquiry has begun with a subpoena of related documents from the company.
- It'll be cloudy with thunderstorms possible throughout the afternoon with highs in the upper 80’s, which is a bit warmer than usual for this date. A significant Saharan dust plume is moving through the Caribbean from the mid-Atlantic and is likely to impact south Florida this weekend.
- The National Hurricane Center’s 7-day tropical outlook is clear with no tropical cyclone activity expected over the next week.
- Gas prices dropped another two cents per gallon on Thursday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $2.97 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.14 per gallon, in Martin the average is $2.96 and in Indian River County the average is $3.00 per gallon.
