- Governor DeSantis has called special elections to replace Florida’s new CFO, Blaise Ingoglia, in the Senate and the late Boynton Beach Representative Joe Casello in the House. Primary elections will be held on September 30th, with the general elections to be held on December 9th.
- Local authorities in Fort Pierce apprehended ten illegal immigrants traveling by boat who landed at Seaway Drive near South Ocean Blvd. An 11th man got away and is being sought by authorities. The migrants have been turned over to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
- A four-mile stretch of railroad tracks through Palm Beach Gardens has been designated as a “quiet zone” by the Federal Rail Administration. The designation, which applies to tracks from Richard Road to Hood Road, eliminates the requirement for train horns at intersections.
- It’ll be warm and humid today with rain and thunderstorms throughout and highs in the upper 80’s, which is a little warmer than usual for this date. - The National Hurricane Center is tracking a disturbance associated with the low-pressure system that’s currently dumping rain on Florida. The system is expected to track from Florida’s east coast into the Gulf over the next couple of days with a 10% chance of development.
- Gas prices fell another three cents per gallon on Tuesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.00 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.16 per gallon, in Martin the average is $2.97 and in Indian River County the average is $3.02 per gallon.
